Whimsy Hive Creator

I'm Alisa, the heart behind Whimsy Hive — a space where faith, creativity, and old-fashioned living all gather together like friends around a well-loved kitchen table.
A few years ago, life changed in ways I never could have imagined. My husband of 27 years passed suddenly, and in the middle of grief, rebuilding, and learning how to carry both joy and sorrow at the same time, I found myself drawn back to simple things that grounded my heart and steadied my soul. There was something deeply healing about planting seeds in the dirt, kneading bread dough with flour-covered hands, stitching quilts one square at a time, and preserving food the way generations before us always had.
What began as small acts of survival slowly became a way of living with intention.
I have always had a soft spot for grandma hobbies. Gardening, canning, quilting, sewing, homemaking, tea blending, baking bread, hanging laundry in the sunshine, filling shelves with jars of food I preserved myself… these things may seem old-fashioned to some, but to me they feel sacred. They remind me that a beautiful life does not have to be rushed, expensive, or complicated.
Whimsy Hive was born out of that realization.
This little corner of the internet is where I share the things I'm learning along the way — the triumphs, the failures, the recipes scribbled on flour-dusted paper, the quilts spread across my dining room table, the overflowing garden beds, and the lessons God keeps teaching me through all of it. Around here you'll find a little humor, a lot of heart, and plenty of reminders that perfection was never the goal.
More than anything, I hope Whimsy Hive feels like an invitation. An invitation to slow down. To create something with your own two hands. To rediscover forgotten skills. To find beauty in ordinary moments. To make space for faith, family, and the kind of simple joys that nourish both body and soul.
So whether you're here for gardening tips, canning recipes, quilting projects, homemaking inspiration, or simply a reminder that there is still goodness to be found in everyday life — I'm so glad you're here.
Welcome to Whimsy Hive. Pull up a chair, friend. There's always room at the table.
